Next Audiobook: Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett

September 22, 2009

Guards! Guards!Last month I asked you to help me out in choosing my next audio book for the long drives home (thanks for that!) and I ended up choosing Frank Herbert’s Dune. Now, here I’ll have to admit that it started out a little slow for me, but it looks to just be hitting its stride so here’s hoping it really takes off over the next couple of weeks and I’ll have a review your way. But next up in the queue is indeed Terry Pratchett’s Guards! Guards!, which will be my first Pratchett book, so I’m really looking forward to discovering what has endeared his work to so many readers.

I’ll be sure to let you know.

A Reading Update…

September 8, 2009

NE_2You’ll have to put up with me for a little while here as for the next few months my face is going to be firmly planted in textbooks where instead of marveling at the exploits of swashbuckling heroes in the realm of fiction I’m going to be knee deep in the ancient Near East, exploring the city-state of Uruk and diving into Mesopotamia — which really isn’t a bad deal given my love for the stuff. Still, just wanted to let you know where my focus would be now that school has begun.  That said, I’ll still be around and should have a few things worth sharing along the way, so stay tuned friend.

Quote The Raven…

raven_r111This has long been one of my favorite quotes, and I try with various degrees of success to ever keep the bit of wisdom near the breast pocket:

“Human happiness and moral duty are inseparably connected. “
